The Wesley Place Guide to Winter Wellness

How to stay energised, nourished, fit and healthy during the colder months

23.06.2021

When it’s cold outdoors, it may be tempting to stay inside, warm and wrapped under a blanket, especially when working from home. But being proactive about your wellbeing during winter can help you stay energised, nourished, fit and healthy throughout the coldest months of the year.

Here at Wesley Place, wellness is at the heart of everything we do with a range of amenities and initiatives to promote a healthy workplace experience for our tenant customers, both in the office and at home.

These are our tips for staying on top of your health and wellbeing this winter.

  1. Get Moving
Whether it’s riding to work or going for a walk during your lunch break, it’s important to find time to move your body everyday. Not only is this good for your physical wellbeing but it also supports your mental health and contributes to a stronger immune system.

  2. Eat Well
When it comes to healthy eating, it’s the little, everyday choices you make that have the biggest impact. Rather than ordering take-away food, prioritise nutritious meals that fuel and energise your body, contributing to a better wellness.

  3. Prioritise Sleep
Sleep is the foundation of health. Not only is it necessary for cellular repair and hormone balance, but it also helps you stay more focussed and alert throughout the day so ensure you are getting the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep each night to feel your best throughout winter.

  4. Self-care
Self-care has become a buzz-word during lockdown. But it’s not all face masks and beauty treatments. Taking five minutes out of your day to reset and revive yourself, whether that be listening to your favourite podcast or having a tea-break can do wonders for your wellbeing.

  5. Be Hygienic
It sounds simple, but washing your hands is a great way to stop the spread of germs in the workplace, especially during flu-season. Ensure you are sanitising and washing your hands regularly, especially when going to the bathroom, eating meals and using someone else’s phone, stationery or keyboard at work.
